Pat Foye's Parting ShotWhen Pat Foye resigned recently as one of County Executive Ed Mangano’s top deputies, he gave Nassau County some good advice: Don’t fight the NIFA takeover of the county’s finances with political attacks and litigation. Instead, he said, try to work with NIFA on balancing the books.
But Foye’s advice was ignored. Nassau went to court, arguing that the NIFA takeover was illegal and unconstitutional.
Worse were Presiding Officer Peter Schmitt’s unconvincing arguments that NIFA’s actions were politically motivated. |

Tea Party protesters mock man suffering from Parkinson'sThe video shows a man who is apparently suffering from Parkinson's disease sitting down in front of a group of protesters. “If you’re looking for a handout, you’re in the wrong part of town! Nothing for free here, you have to work for everything you get!” says one guy. Then, a well dressed man comes over, and flings some money at the protester and mockingly says “I’ll pay for this guy.
